Who we are
London Water Treatment is an independent water treatment and water hygiene company based at Q West, 1110 Great West Road in Brentford. We carry out chlorination and certification, Legionella risk assessments and control, and water tank cleaning, disinfection and replacement for residential and commercial properties across London and the surrounding areas.
We are a specialist contractor, not a general maintenance firm, and water hygiene work is judged on documentation as much as on the work itself. A chlorination only helps a developer if the certificate arrives before the Thames Water connection is due. We plan every job around the document you need at the end of it.

The standards we work to
Named published standards, so you can check the work against something independent.
There is no single law in Great Britain called the Legionella Act. The duties come from general health and safety law, principally the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002, supported by the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. The guidance below is how those duties are met in practice.
- ACOP L8 The HSE Approved Code of Practice on controlling legionella bacteria, fourth edition, 2013. It is not legislation, but if you do not follow it and you are prosecuted, you must show you complied some other way.
- HSG274 Part 2 The technical guidance on hot and cold water systems, covering storage, distribution, disinfection and sampling.
- BS8558 The guide to services supplying water for domestic use in buildings. Our chlorination work follows it.
- BS EN 806-4 Installation practice behind the flushing and disinfection of new pipework.
- BS 7592 Sampling for legionella bacteria, so a result means something.

How we work
The same sequence on every job, whether it is one flat or a whole development.
- Enquiry and scope You tell us the property, the system and the date the paperwork is needed by. We quote against that scope, not a generic price list.
- Survey We identify the system on site: incoming main, storage, hot and cold distribution, outlets, dead legs and anything producing a spray. On Legionella work this is the risk assessment itself.
- Method and access We agree isolation, drain down, plant room access and how long the supply is off, timed around residents and staff.
- The works Cleaning, flushing, dosing, dwell, neutralisation and refill on chlorination and tank work. Disinfection or remedial work on Legionella jobs.
- Sampling Samples are taken to the appropriate standard and analysed by a UKAS accredited laboratory. Bacteriological results need incubation, so they are not instant.
- Documentation You receive the certificate, report or risk assessment electronically. Same day chlorination certification and same day Legionella risk assessments are available.
- If a result fails We review the method and the system, find the likely cause, re-clean or re-disinfect, then re-sample, so you end up with a clean result and a defensible record.

We work for both sectors. On the residential side that means private homeowners, landlords, letting agents, managing agents and residential blocks. On the commercial side it means main contractors, developers, M and E contractors, facilities managers, property managers and building owners across London and the surrounding areas.

One point worth knowing if you are a landlord or managing agent: under section 3 of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, a legal duty cannot be passed on by means of a contract. Appointing a competent contractor is the right move, but the duty to see that the risk is assessed and controlled stays with the duty holder.

We are based at Q West, 1110 Great West Road, Brentford TW8 0GP, in west London. From there we cover London and the surrounding areas, so a site in the centre, the west, or out towards the M25 is within our normal working area.
